Embodied Asana: a Journey Through the Koshas
Yoga is a deep and vast system that touches into all aspects of our being. The koshas provide a useful framework for understanding and integrating the five layers of the self, including the physical, energetic, mental, wisdom, and bliss layers. This 15 hour course connects the wisdom of the koshas with yoga asana (yoga postures) to support a yoga practice that goes beyond making shapes with the body to embodying poses from the inside-out.
In addition to examining each of the koshas in depth, we explore various categories of asanas (standing, forward folds, twists, backbends, and inversions), meditation techniques, subtle body maps, anatomy, yoga philosophy and contemplative practices that will fortify your yogic toolbox. Each module blends lecture, experiential learning, awareness exercises, meditation practice, longform yoga asana practices, optional homework assignments, and tips for integrating the content into daily practice. Yoga teachers and sincere students alike will benefit.
